Immaculate Conception (8th December)

The Immaculate Conception is a title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary. We have been freed from sin by Christ but we were conceived and born bearing the sin of Adam – rebellion against God. Mary, however, was redeemed by Christ before she was conceived (God is not constrained by time) and was never separated from God’s will. She can teach us how to live in God’s will, which we fear may only limit or judge us, but which is in fact perfect freedom.

Many of the authorised apparitions of the Virgin Mary (such as that to St Bernadette at Lourdes) have been under this aspect, of her who is the Immaculate Conception.
